Toby and Shine walked down the side walk together as they normally did. They had spent most of their time at Felix's house, but Felix came down with a concussion due the roof in the kitchen 'mysteriously' fell over when Tess pressed her Doomie Button. Felix became a total bore after that so it was time to go. As usual, Toby walked with Shine home.
"So you really ARE an alien...?" Toby asked. He already knew it was true, he saw that her human body was just a disguise when Felix coaxed her into showing what she really looked like.
"That's not a problem is it?" Shine blinked.
"No, it's cool." Toby grinned. He looked up at the sky. 'Looks like it's gonna rain?' He thought to himself. He didn't really think that much about it. In fact, he liked the rain. His mom couldn't afford their water bill so the only kind of bath he could get when he couldn't use Felix's or Vince's shower was the rain.
And soon the rain started to fall. It was light for only a few seconds, but it soon became heavier.
"AHHHH!!!" Shine screeched, covering her face to shield herself from the rain.
Toby blinked as she ran to the safety of a large tree. He ran after her. "Shine!? What's wrong!?"
Shine squealed and clung to the tree trunk as Toby ran to her side.
"Shine, it's just rain," Toby hugged her. "Calm down."
"No..." Shine whispered, looking up at him. "Rain burns my skin..."
"What? Seriously?" Toby frowned. "That's a problem..." He looked up at the sky. It didn't look like it was letting up any time soon. "Hmm..." He pulled off his hoodie and handed it to Shine. "Wear this. "If you cover yourself up in it the rain won't hurt you."
Shine smiled brightly and pulled the jacket on. She pulled the hood over her head. "Like this?" She asked.
Toby stood and smiled, nodding. He took her hand and helped her up. "That should help alot." He led her out into the rain.
Shine whimpered as the rain hit the jacket, but it didn't touch her. A little touched her face at first, but when she turned her head away from the rain it didn't touch her. "Thank you so much." She smiled, hugging him.
Toby smiled and hugged her back. "C'mon." He walked her home the rest of the way.
